Biofouling community structure was studied in a tropical monsoon-influenced Mandovi estuary in Goa, west coast of India. Monthly, seasonal and yearly observations on biofouling on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) panels immersed at subsurface water level were recorded and photographed from May 2012 to September 2013. An excellent review about marine natural antifouling products has been published by the Biofouling journal https://www.tandfonline.com/…/full/10…/08927014.2020.1864343 tandfonline.com Biofouling causes flow losses due to constriction of the flow channel, increase roughness of the surface, and increase drag because of their viscoelastic properties. The first step in biofilm formation prior to microbial adhesion is the irreversible adsorption of macromolecules, which leads to a “conditioning film” (humic substances, lipopolysaccharides, microbial products).
Biofouling is an international, peer-reviewed, multi-discliplinary journal which publishes original articles and mini-reviews and provides a forum for publication of pure and applied work on protein, microbial, fungal, plant and animal fouling and its control, as well as …

After three months in the aquarium the membranes were examined by SEM and it was observed that unmodified membranes were more fouled with more bacteria attached compared to the modified ones. Marine biofouling is the undesirable accumulation of biological matter on the surfaces of submerged objects such as ship hulls and pier pylons.

Search … ‘Biofouling’ consists, mostly, in marine organisms with two distinct phases in their complex life cycles: a larval phase, which is planktonic, and juvenile/adult phase, when, after the metamorphosis of the larva, the specimen becomes benthonic and fixed on a natural surface (rocky slopes) or on artificial surfaces (ships and platforms) (Apolinário, 2003, Ferreira et al., 2004). LetPub Scientific Journal Selector (2018-2021), BIOFOULING published in 1988, ENGLAND. Biofouling is generally undesirable for many applications.
